Sega sez… PS3 Price Too High!

Masanao Maeda, an executive over at Sega, has been quoted by Reuters as saying that the only way Sony will be able to stimulate low demand for the Playstation 3 is for a “significant” price cut.
“Name brand, price and software are what count,” Sega Corp. corporate director Masanao Maeda told Reuters in an interview on Monday. Sega Corp. is the game unit of Sega Sammy.
“Since it’s getting difficult to make software availability a differentiating factor, superior marketing and pricing strategy will be the key for Sony,” Maeda said.
The man has a point — Blu-Ray or not, the PS3 is a console that will bring pain upon your pocketbook. While I do tend to agree that a minor price cut is the way to go for the lagging console (from $600 to the $450-500 range), I also have to admit that there are some titles on the horizon for the PS3 that has me, the resident Xbox fanboy, excited.
