L.A. Noire-exclusive!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys!
Exciting news today! It seems that L.A. Noire will be an exclusive for the PS3! For those of you that don’t know the game, here is a little extract from everybody’s favourite dictionary, Wikipedia.

L.A. Noire is an upcoming video game developed by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games for the PlayStation 3 L.A. Noire is set in “a perfectly re-created Los Angeles” of the late 1940s, with players being given an open-ended challenge to solve a series of murders. The postwar setting will include the noir necessity of corruption, as well as drugs and jazz themes. The game uses a distinctive noire colouring-style to strengthen the feeling from detective movies of the ’40s.

Here is the full newly released trailer for you to bask in its glory!

Pre-orders:just going through the roof!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys!

I’ve got some exciting information to kick-start this week’s PS3 news!
Seems like last Thursday the pre orders for the Sony 80GB PS3 rose 5 685%! The 80GB PS3 will be sold for $599 and will have Motorstorm bundled with it, and maybe even a new rumble-enabled SIXAXIS controller, however that is just a rumour at this point. This 80GB PS3 pack is set to release on August the 12th, so get your pre-orders in if you haven’t already!

By the way, for those of you thinking to upgrade your 60GB to 80GB-if your planning on playing PSX games, then try buying it later. Apparently the 80GB will cut off the emotion chip or whatever its called, and instead of software to emulate the games. And of course, as its new, apparently not many games work with it at the moment. Unfortunately.

Add ons-DVR and Digital TV Tuner!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys,

It seems that SCENZ (Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand) has revealed that the PS3 may be indeed getting add ons such as DVR support and also a Digital TV Tuner!

Sony wants to make the console a programmable TV recorder, so that it will pretty much do everything-making it more of a centerpiece to your home, much like its Complete Entertainment Experience ads we keep seeing. A digital TV Tuner should be released by next year, and it should also serve as a

“sort of a sharing format between compatible networked devices. It means I can have my laptop, and my PS3 can wirelessly detect movies, or music, or pictures stored on it and stream it to my TV. That content will appear on the PS3’s X-media bar.

“We’re also hoping next year – about the same time that Freeview launches its terrestrial broadcasting service (expected to be in March) – to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder.”

Pretty awesome! PS3 may be shaping up to what it’s meant to be-the ultimate gaming platform!

Selling PS3s-illegal, in Argentina?

by Tommy Tseng

Apparently, Sony has stated that selling a PS3 in Argentina is-illegal.

Sony has issued this warning to all the dealers who have imported a PS3 to sell it in Argentina. If they don’t stop, they will be “facing legal action”.

Apparently, in order to sell the console, the Japanese giant must certify it for compliance with the local RF spectrum regulations, that is, the frequencies watchdog agency, or FCC wannabe, the CNC. He said a couple of weeks ago that the firm had not initiated the certification for the device’s Bluetooth capability at the time, and that “until that certification” and approval - does not exist then it’s not legal to sell the PS3 console.

Interestingly enough, the guys over at The Inquirer also found the Carrefour (giant French company, much like Walmart) price for a PS3 package-at a whopping $5999, may I add.

Indeed…we shall see when Sony Japan ‘gives the approval’ for Argentinian dealers to legally sell the PS3-but then again, they’re doing it now anyway. So what’s the use. ;)

Wololoooo-cars, cars, and more cars!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys,

Fantastic news today! It seems that Gran Turismo 5 is going to feature 1000 cars! Yep, 1000 cars! Now, think about it-in previous games you used to shift through maybe 5-10 cars for every manufacturer. (which could have been, say, 50 at the most?)

Now, there’s going to be a whopping 1000 cars! Imagine the car picking screen when your friend (who has never played GT) comes over…

However, there’s always that statement which comes into play: “When something is too good to be true, it usually is.” And….that’s what this is.

It seems that the Gran Turismo 5 Blue-ray retail disc is only going to feature 340 of those cars, while the rest will be slowly added on through the Playstation Store, at a price of course. And, seeming as there will be a high amount of downloadable content, rumours are the game may be released for a lower price-$40 or even as low as $30! Time will tell…..

Virtua Fighter 5 rushed…and that’s why it has no.online.play. Dang.

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys,
It seems that Sega of America has admitted that Virtua Fighter 5, released on the PS3 was rushed in order to get within the launch window of the console. According to this, it is why the Xbox 360 has online play, while there is no online play whatsoever to be found in the PS3 version. Oh well, at least it has top notch graphics…

“[AM2] felt that with the 360 they could make online happen”I don’t know how to explain it other than by defining [the VF5 dev team] as just the most incredible craftsmen-oriented group. They’re perfectionists, I guess is probably a better way to say it. They have always been concerned about lag time and that game is as real and pure as a fighting game gets. It doesn’t play around, it takes itself very seriously, and they didn’t want that lag online to be a barrier to people’s experience of the purity in gameplay.”

“[AM2] felt that with the 360 they could make online happen, and with a lot of trials and tests and experiments figured out a way to do it where there’s no lag—well extremely minimal lag, almost unnoticeable—so we were quite shocked when they told us it would be online, actually. It was a surprise.”

“…I think they felt like, hey, let’s surprise the world.’ That’s how it all kind of came down, so it was one of those great, just serendipitous kinds of moments where it happened and we weren’t expecting it.”

Oh well. Hope they decide that the PS3 version of Virtua Fighter 5 was extraordinary and decide to patch it to make it online.

Woot! Exclusivity on the rise!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys,

Awesome news today-Rockstar has announced that they will bring some more exclusive titles to the PS3!
Apparentely, Rockstar wanted to harness the power of the Cell and Blue Ray, and thus, would make some PS3 exclusive titles to demonstrate this.

“Everyone knows to have success in this business you need to look ahead, identifying the talent and titles that are going to give consumers new kinds of gaming experiences that help set the bar for the rest of the industry…Rockstar really wanted to make a game that you can truly only do on PS3, harnessing the power of CELL and Blu-ray disc and this deal lets them do just that.”

Stay tuned for the months ahead to see what game/s will be announced!

Sony Australia- what a beauuty!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys,

Interesting news today- Sony Australia has started rolling out its new PS3 bundle to boost local sales!

The games MotorStorn and Resistance:Fall of Man along with a second Sixaxis controller and the 60 GB PS3 will be sold for $999.95. Market research group GfK said 59,000 PS3s had already been sold since its Australian launch in March. The PS3 price was recently lowered in the US to boost sales.

What an awesome pack for those that live down under with me! I’m sure most of us will get this soon (I’ll be waiting for the pack with Killzone 2 or Call of Duty 4, thank you).

Dead Rising 2! Not in production for the Xbox 360-and the PS3 too.

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys,

It seems that Dead Rising 2 will not be available for the PS3 or the Xbox 360, as a matter of fact. There just isn’t enough budgeting available for it, even though they would “really love to do it”. We’ll just hope that they will make it later in the future. Dead Rising looked so good, and think it would on the PS3 (high def visuals + large amount of enemines on screen, anyone?)
