Armoured Core 4

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys!

Sorry for not posting yesterday, I was on holiday and couldn’t post. Didn’t have nice sleep..but I did eat a massive dinner and breakfast! So many oysters…aye..think I gained 2 kilos :P

Anyway, back on to Playstation 3 news!

chromehounds.bmp

Now, I think most of you have heard of the game ‘Chromehounds’. It was an awesome mech game for the Xbox360. I thought it was actually really good, judging from the commercials, trailers etc. Then I went to play a demo of it at a Harvey Normans store, and the single player campaign was, well…a bit ‘easy’.

Well, ‘Chromehounds’ isn’t coming to Playstation 3. Something a whole lot better is. You guessed it, (or read the title), it’s Armoured Core 4!

518px_ArmoredCore4.jpg

Armoured Core 4 is a mech-based game where the world’s governments have been taken over by corporations. A battle now rages between the Ravens (rebels and mercenaries against the corporations) and the Corporations. Armoured Core 4 has many significant upgrades from its predecessors, including automatic lock on when in range, almost limitless flight with some of the higher powered generators, and removal of the heat and overheating game mechanics.

The environment will now be affected by AC (Armoured Core) battles! ACs can now leave footprints and even destroy buildings and landmarks.

Also, you can now fight on water, unlike past Armoured Core games! In the past, if you touched the water, you would fall straight to the bottom. In Armoured Core 4, however, if you fall, you can quickly get back to the surface just by firing your thrusters!

Armoured Core 4 is slated for an April 27 release for PAL Territories, but the North American and Japan territories should already have it, so if you don’t already have a copy, go grab one now! (Or in the near future, whichever suits you.)

Grand Theft Auto for the Playstation 3!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey!

It seems like Grand Theft Auto 4 will be a tremendous improvement over its predecessors, and will be absolutely astonishing. With the Playstation 3’s hardware, I am sure that it will be a fantastic game.

Here’s the trailer, to get you guys hyped up:

It is indeed impressive, isn’t it? Can’t wait for this to come out, but I probably won’t be buying it straight on, as there are a heap load of other games on my top priority list (and I mean, a heap load!).

Stay tuned for more Playstation gaming info, on www.ps3rally.com!

Playstation Sixaxis controller

by Tommy Tseng

You guys may have heard of the new Playstation Sixaxis controller. It’s a new controller developed by Sony, and is a great improvement from the original controller.

The new Sixaxis controller now features a sensitive motion sensing system, similar to that of the Wii-mote (Nintendo Wii Remote) however it’s motion sensitivity is not that high compared to the Wii-mote, although it can still provide a full six degrees of freedom.

There is now growing support for the Sixaxis controller in games, ranging from the sci-fi third-person shooter Warhawk to the road-raging Motorstorm. As seen here, the controller integrates itself perfectly with the games, and provides fluent, fun gameplay.

The Sixaxis controller is now also wireless, following the trends of similar next-gen console controllers. Featuring Bluetooth technology, the Playstation 3 can now handle up to 7 wireless Sixaxis controllers at the same time, making multiplayer matches more intense and fun. The controller can also be seamlessly changed from wireless to wired and charged via a USB controller if needed, able to sustain up to 30 hours of battery life.

Although it has many features, the controller doesn’t have vibration features. Why is there no rumble feature added?
Sony, with its last Dualshock controller, was sued by a company called Immersion, who developed the rumbling features in the first place. Due to this, Sony is not able to introduce rumble features, although it is possible, as seen in the Wii-mote.

Despite this, the Sixaxis controller is still formidable and extremely powerful, and definately worth your money.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell:Double Agent

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys,

In 4 days time, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell:Double Agent is coming out on the PS3!! As always, it will be great.
Even better, it’s on the Playstation 3 and will definitely utilize the extremely powerful PS3 hardware.
For those that don’t know Splinter Cell:Double Agent, it’s an action third person/first person shooter and stealth game, sort of like the Metal Gear Solid series (which, by the way, is also coming out on the Playstation 3 and will definately be nice!)

splinter_cell_2.JPG

Global Illumination at its best.

splinter_cell_3.JPG

Bam! See that glistening sweat :P

splinter_cell_1.bmp

Doesn’t it mark a resemblance to Rainbow Six Vegas? It’s by the same company, anyway.

Well there you go. As good as it looks, I’d rather get Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas (I think it’s on the PS3…), but for those of you who are die-hard fans (or just fans) of Splinter Cell, or just want to have a good action thriller game, be sure to pick this up as soon as it comes out (April 5th!).

Oh and by the way, April Fools!

(Just a note, none of this is baloney :P)

March 30

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys,

It’s March 30, and it’s been a few days after the Playstation 3 launch (a week, to be exact) for the PAL Territory countries. Playstation 3 fans are rejoicing everywhere.

There comes the question of games: What games are the best at the moment, and is it worth buying a Playstation 3 now, or later?

There are many launch titles for the Playstation 3, including Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent, The Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion There are also many exclusive titles, such as the highly-acclaimed Motorstorm and Resistance:Fall of Man. These games are already incredible, as they all include stunning high-definition visuals and mind-blowing audio.

virtua_tennis_3_small.bmp

Virtua Tennis 3, as seen, is also a great launch title, with great visuals and ’smashing’ gameplay.

The Playstation 3 also features an online system, similar to that of the Xbox 360 Live system. Downloadable demos and games are available, including the exquisite Gran Turismo™ HD Concept game, which is remarkably extraordinary. Offering gamers an insight into the new Gran Turismo game, Gran Turismo™ HD delivers stunning visuals and the remarkable realisitc driving gameplay expected of it. All the while, being free!

gran_turismo.bmp

With all this on stock, is the Playstation 3 worth buying now, or later? It seems that with all the technology in the Playstation 3, and the amount of difficulty and detours it has encountered, price cuts won’t be happening any time soon, however this is only for Sony to decide ;)

There is a tremendous amount of content arriving soon, especially the ‘Playstation Home’ concept, so I guess getting a Playstation 3 in the next few months is a worthy idea :)

If you still have doubts, remind yourself of the Killzone trailer ;)

Have fun guys, and stay tuned!

Welcome!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys!
My name is Tommy Tseng and I’ll be your blogger for this website, www.ps3rally.com .

I want to ask you guys something first.
The Playstation 3. What do you think about it?

The extreme awesome power, blue-ray capabilities, or intensive graphical action?

Of course, all of those combined :P

Remember this? It seems as though there has been a lot of controversy about Killzone, how it is all ‘CG’, though recent reports have dismissed that matter.

Killzone 2 has become one of the ‘exclusive’ titles for the Playstation 3-already being worked on by 120 developers, with more than 120 million Euro spent already.

Recent news at the GDC have seen Killzone in action and those that have seen it are definately amazed. A high level of destructibility with bullets, amazing graphics and fast action gameplay have defined Killzone as a game to look out for, especially at this year’s E3, where the trailer will be shown and hopefully there will be a playable demo of some sort.

Killzone 2 is one of the many great games to look out for, but there are many more, so stay tuned!
