There are some bad, bad people out there.

by Tommy Tseng

It seems as there has been an unfortunate incidient…a man has been stabbed to death over a Playstation 3.

According to San Francisco police, a 31 year old man has been stabbed to death over a Playstation 3.

The reports coming out state that Hani Attia tried to confront the man who stole the PlayStation 3 from two women. The confrontation took place around 9 p.m. on Monday night. The man who stole the console was attempting to sell it for a profit. One of the ladies with the man got the console back but unfortunately Hani Attia who was simply trying to help the women, got stabbed in a confrontation with the thief.

It’s a Playstation 3…as highly valued as it gets, it’s not worth killing a man over a few hundred dollars of entertainment is it?

I hope he does get caught, and jailed for a very long time, along with all the other thieves and crooks who have shot, hurt and killed innocent civilians over Playstation 3s.

(If you don’t know, at the launch of the Playstation 3 in America, a man was shot over a PS3, and thus, because of this, Sony gave people who bought the PS3 at certain stores in the UK a free Bravia 42″ TV and paid for the taxi ride home, in case of any robbings.

The Cell Processor - other uses!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey,

Start of a new week, with some awesome news, but also some..bad news too…

Seems like IBM is now going to use the PS3 Cell processor in it’s high-performance machines!

These machines will be used to run very intricate online games and virtual worlds which require a great deal of fast and efficient processing power. For the types of things which IBM is trying to do no other processor would work for it except the Cell due to its speed and effectiveness in the matter.

Indeed that is pretty awesome! Maybe the Cell may have other uses in the future too, other than just gaming and Folding@Home ;)

Bad news, though, is for the gamers in the UK and Ireland.

Seems like the retailer GAME is not stocking any The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for PS3! Aye….
The reason is unknown yet, maybe it is an internal/business issue.

So if you want your share of RPG gaming, better get it from another retailer or order it overseas!

This week sure is going to be fun, fun fun!

Homebrew? Approved? Sony? …Phil Harrison?

by Tommy Tseng

Hey,

It seems that the renowned Sony Studios boss, Phil Harrison, has started talking about the homebrew possibilities with the PS3 - positively!

Unlike the PSP, where the firmware updates were practically JUST to get homebrew off (and some little goodies here and there so that the good owners wouldn’t turn to the dark side) it seems Sony may want to embrace homebrew this time!

It seems that Sony wants to enable ‘home development’, and that “It’s a vital, crucial aspect of the future growth of our industry”.

And

“If we can make certain aspects of PS3 open to the independent game development community, we will do out industry a service by providing opportunities for the next generation of creative and technical talent.

It seems that Harrison wants the PS3 to follow the Xbox 360 and its XNA Development Studio project.

Well..that’s pretty awesome!
PS3 also has linux, so some decent next-generation independent games may be on the horizon!
And maybe some good emulators too - the N64 emulator for the PSP is ‘just’ shaping up ;)

For the full story, read here.

Have fun guys. This is indeed GREAT news!

F.E.A.R is released!

by Tommy Tseng

The highly anticipated F.E.A.R for the Playstation 3 is now released!

F.E.A.R, First Encounter Assault Recon is a horror FPS game where you, with a strike team of ‘commandos’, have to find out what is happening at a technological center. It appears that another strike force took over and has not been heard since.

However, when you get there, things make an ugly twist - it seems there are psychological traumas where there is a little girl and everything is distorted. Things get creepier and creepier….but I shall let you find out ;)

Anyway, it’s out! So if you are ready for a HD horror FPS game, it’s in stores now….;)

Magnificant Monday

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys!
Sorry for the recent lack of news updates, Playstation 3 doesn’t have news for now…lol
But I have also been busy with a LOT of things, so sorry!

Anyway, back on task:

Have you ever wondered, that maybe you want MORE with your PS3?
More videos.
More music.
More games.
More fun.

You can do all that with a larger hard drive, and what? It’s possible with the PS3!
Unlike Microsoft’s Xbox360 hard drive, which is so overpriced and is the only one working without hacks/mods, the Playstation 3 allows you to slap on a notebook hard drive in and start.

Of course, what if you were:
1. Lazy
2. Don’t know how to do it

Well then, the guys at PCN can help!

Seems like PCN, along with already making Custom PS3’s (custom paint jobs, I might add), they will also be able to add in custom hard drive disks! They have said, “We do not know which sizes of hard drive we will be offering at this point but the range is going to be from around 80GB to 250GB. ”

250 GB! Think of it…250 GB of videos, games, files, applications and music right in your living room, all ready for you to have fun with.

And I totally agree with this statement: “This means if you want a 160GB hard drive in your PS3 to make your friend who owns an Xbox 360 Elite down the street shut his trap, you can do that. ”

Fun, indeed! For the story, check it here.

As always, have fun, and stay tuned to your favourite website, www.ps3rally.com!

Battlefield: Bad Company!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys!
Awesome Friday time! The Playstation 3 has been revealed to have Battlefield:Bad Company as one of it’s future games!

Battlefield:Bad Company (BF:BC) is the next in the Battlefield series.

BFBC is the next in the powerful Battlefield series, and is set to improve on many aspects. The most important, and of course, most significant, is it’s destructible environments technology! This is an awesome improvement, as it allows new ways of strategy and thinking in the battlefield. Tanks can now pulverise infantry hiding in buildings, but also likewise-infantry can carve a small hole to have a peekhole to shoot the enemy from. 90% destructible environments ensure battles are always exciting, fun, and keep you on the edge of your chair!

Many of the awesome systems from Battlefield 2 are also brought in- Squads, Weapons, and Ironsights too. Weapons will include modern and futuristic weapons, such as the now cancelled XM8. Squads, it now seems, will follow the BF2142 move - combining, and thus lowering the amount of soldier classes. BF2 had many classes, such as medic, spec-ops, assault, anti tank, sniper and support, and BF2142 just had four classes, with ‘Recon’ combining spec-ops with sniper, ‘Assault’ combining medic and assault and others.

Similar to the BF2142 unique character loadout system, BF:BC should include something like the customisation screen for your character. That would be excellent!

Ironsights were used in BF2, however, in BF:BC it’s use will be tremendously magnified. It will now cause you to fire in random directions, such as in real life, and also blur out surrounding objects and focus on the target to improve your player’s aim.

BF:BC also has a new, innovative mode that it’s past predecessors did not do well in- Single Player!
Battlefield Bad Company will now include a fully featured single player mode, having you take on a soldier in a squad of AWOL soldiers fighting for “gold, revenge, and whatever’s worth fighting for.”.

Multiplayer should stay the same as it was-the strong, intense firefights that even to today I enjoy. (I played BF2 today with 64 people with no vehicles! Just infantry combat…oh boy was IT intense!)
Persistant Character Ranks should come back, and that will be awesome if it does! ;)

Battlefield: Bad Company is definitely a HOT item to buy for your PS3. Everything is now so good, you won’t know what’s better ;)

Have fun now! Stay tuned for an SUPER Saturday post!

New games this month

by Tommy Tseng

Hey,
Seems like this month will be the launch time for a few new games. Only a few.

F.E.A.R
And Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six is arriving near the end of the month I think.

So..only two this month, for now. A lot more coming in June, though!

A calm and peaceful month this is.
Bad for PS3 Rally though, we’re desperate for information!

5 Days!

by Tommy Tseng

Hey guys!

It seems that in 5 days time, on the 22nd of April, F.E.A.R for the Playstation 3 will come out!
Isn’t it exciting! F.E.A.R for the PC and Xbox360 was absolutely fantastic, and with the PS3’s high-definition visuals, it must indeed be more scarier and intense than ever before!

More news as it comes! And pictures also, definately ;)
