Aye? Playstation Eye!

Hey everybody!
As you can see from the above picture, it shows what the PS3 40GB box will have on it. Noe the PS2 games not able to perform on the 40GB model-what a bummer. That’s what you get for a bargain, I suppose.
Also on Blu-ray news:
Sony is working on a new PS3 firmware update that will improve Blu-ray playback! It will improve and include innovative Blu-ray interactivitiy. Blu-ray is already working a dream on the PS3 - perhaps better now?
Now for the main feature: The Playstation Eye!
It has been revealed that the Playstation Eye will be shipping to a store near you on October 23rd with a retail price of $39.99 (US).
This comes as great news, as it differs quite a lot from the old EyeToy:
“One question I’ve seen asked a lot is: “What makes PlayStation Eye different from its predecessor, the EyeToy camera?” Lots. For a start, PlayStation Eye was engineered from the onset to perform well in low-light conditions. It also has a 2-setting zoom lens (normal and wide angle) with fixed focus. What does that mean? Well, a lot less fussing around than previous cameras. PlayStation Eye gets a sharp, clear picture at 640 x 480 resolution at 60 frames per second (at 320 x 240 it looks even better at 120 fps)! It picks up image and motion in varying light conditions and doesn’t need your help to focus.”
“It also has a built-in 4-microphone array that allows you to enjoy online AV chat and in-game voice chat, in what we’re calling a “natural environment,” meaning, not awkwardly leaning toward your camera or speaking abnormally loud just so the mic picks up your voice. IMHO, this microphone really does do away with the need for a headset.”
“The PlayStation Eye does an excellent job of filtering out background noise for a clearer voice connection, but it also has twice the frame rate than most standard cameras (this is part of what sets it apart from any other webcam or camera for this generation of consoles), allowing for faster and more natural tracking, responsiveness and smoothness. I think if you take all of this into consideration, PlayStation Eye is an ideal camera for AV Chat on your PS3.”
Woooh! So technically if this works out as it should be, this should definately own the current webcam provided for the Xbox 360. And with microphone capabilities, this will surely dissolve your need for a headset (unless you got a *cough* free headset by buying the retail version of Warhawk).
And from my recollection, won’t the Playstation Eye or something else also have 3d sensing capabilties or something? It was able to sense different things on screen, like a sofa, ‘you’, chairs, etc. Something that was WORTH buying a PS3 for.
Also you can also head to youtube and find a …E3 2005 or 2006 demo of the PS3 (before it came out). Had an Eyetoy-ish live demonstration with rubber duckies and glasses. Definately worth checking out.
This sure beats news of an Unreal III demo coming out, doesn’t it! Heh..heh..*laughs before running away*
Enjoy the week, everyone. I’ll be off complaining to my ISP why my download of the CoD4 demo didn’t work as planned. Speaking of demos, the Simpsons game demo is on the PSN networks at the moment. Go check it out, this one’s a sure-fire bam.
